Blog Worthy

Whilst I am still undecided of whether or not to start blogging regularly or not I found something blog worthy today…

Some of you (mainly the old ones) will remember an iconic film called Get Carter.  There is (was) a car park in Gateshead, Trinity Square, that was made famous when it was used as a location in the film.  It was known locally as ‘The Get Carter Car Park’ which I think you will agree, rolls of the tongue much easier than Trinity Park….. *rolls eyes*

The car park was also of interest to those who like the brutalist  architecture style.

Anyway… demolition started on the car park at the end of July and was expected to take about eight weeks.  The clear up is in its almost final stages now and the local council are thinking of offering bits of the car park to the public.  I hope it small bits…   I think I might like a bit of ‘Get Carter Car Park’ memorabilia….

These photographs are courtesy of The Chronicle & Gateshead Council and they show the soon to be available new  Nissan Juke in the Get Carter Car Park.

In other news, the line up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing has been announced.  I know, some of you are rolling your eyes and wondering how I could entertain such tripe on my television.  However, I quite like it usually,  but looking at the smattering of ‘celebs’ for this season I don’t see anyone that I think I’d enjoy watching.

What do you think? Anne Widdecombe looks like she might lack the grace required and Peter Shilton is going to have two left (goal keeping genius) feet… Felicity Kendal might be good.  She looks amazing…

Lastly I found something that might make the men want to get their groove on….

I certainly remember it and was taken to car park a few years after the film came out. It was cold, wet and windy so we didn’t linger long!
I’m not a Strictly fan and prefer watching musicals from way back when!
Don’t worry about blogging regularly just do posts as and when you want to, ones like this are well worth the wait! xx

Hi Flighty! Sounds like normal Gateshead weather to me!
I love it that car parks can have so much interesting history, even down to its architectural structure! I was amazed to find a few more buildings, locally (to me) that were also Brutalist structures. One of which is Dunelm House in Durham. (The 30th Beer Festival was held there just last week!)
Strictly I can take or leave but it appeals to me more if there is someone who I like taking part in it. I wish I could dance like it!
I find that I enjoy the blogging more when I am sifting through interesting things as I did with this one.
Thanks for the visit. (as ever!) xx

Hmmm … last time I tried to find you, I think I ended up at a private blog which wouldn’t let me in. I think it was you anyway … but I’m so old I don’t know about that Carter film, is I may be misremembering. In other news, I like the So you Think dancing shows but I have stayed away from our Dancing With the Stars.

    Hello there Birthday boy!
AC, the funniest thing, whenever I abandon my blog for any length of time I seem to get spammed with porn! *SHOCK* so I tend to close it up til I do an entry… I’m here now though… no porn! Phew!
I bet you do remember the film! lol Not too old at all… yet.
It was Michael Caine and Britt Ekland.

I think I like the romance of the oldtime dancing… I would love to swish across the ballroom in a swishy gown! x

I am a pretty fair dancer, even if I do say so myself. . . . .Oh, I just did.

I am always on the look out for a nice ballroom dance partner. My best one left years ago, when she left Parker and I to find herself.

My current friend Lynne is quite a good dancer.
I have added this to the list of her fine points. :)

Sort of know the feeling… except that even when I decide I’m going to blog more frequently, it doesn’t happen! Even when I’ve got a post lined up for it. Sigh…

HEY STRANGER! Been clearing out my bookmarks — no worries, yours is STILL there! But finally taking a look-see after many, many months. Strictly Come Dancing gets the nod in almost every weekly EastEnders fan letter I get — they must be heavy on EE actors / light on clothing? Anyway — thinking of you. Hope you are having a lovely (sunny) weekend! xoxo
