Thank you. This is lovely.
“In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.”

Your title says it all, and the images and words are powerful reminders. xx

Now fess up. Do great minds think alike or did you see the poppy picture from the same place I did?
Did you steal it from me?
The older I get the more I am interested in the history of the First and Second World War. I know a lot about the latter because my mother told me a lot and I knew people who experienced it but the Great War has fascinated me and I have had to read a lot about it. The idea of tens of thousands dying in a single battle is beyond belief. Such was the case in WW1 not once but time and again. Such a dirty war

Steal is a very strong word.. I like to think of it as borrowed! haha
No, actually I didn’t, I googled it and saw it come up time and time again so I presumed it wasn’t strictly belonging to one person. It’s very striking though isn’t it?
I read a book called, The Last Fighting Tommy, which was the story of Harry Patch, who at the time was the last remaining soldier of the Trenches, WW1.
He died in July this year aged 111.

.
It’s a very moving, poignant book which I would recommend as a very interesting read.

I saw photos of Tommy Patch and a couple of his WWI buddys from last year I believe. Was he the one who lied about his age to enlist? “Old soldiers never die. . . “
