Happy Birthday Flighty
Over the Beaches by Philip West
Flighty has been my friend for quite a few years now… I’ll say about five years but I’m sure Flighty will correct me if I’m wrong. He was among the cast of only a remaining few that used to comment on my first blog. As Feathered Energy back on 20six I decided to give this blogging a go and I must say the rewards have been wonderful. I’ve ‘met’ some of the loveliest people through this medium.
I had to mark the occasion of his birthday with something…. but as ever, me being me, I have to be a little different. So, as I am going to be away for the next week or so I decided to bring Flighty’s birthday forward by a day… I feel like the Queen! (I’m sure the Queen is allowed to change things like birthdays! I mean to say, she has two!)
Flighty is 21 (again and again plus VAT) tomorrow, 24th October but I would like to kick the celebrations off a day early!
A BIRTHDAY
Christina Rossetti
My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water’d shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thick-set fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these,
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a daïs of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.
Birthstone , Flower, Star sign.
A very happy birthday to a dear friend! Fabulous Flighty!
I adore this painting. It’s painted by Nancy Lee Moran.
If you get time, please could you call over to see him and take some Birthday wishes with you! Early or Late! I’m sure he won’t mind!

Oh my what a lovely surprise with this post full of my favourite things!
I reckon five years as well, and if not what the heck who’s counting anyway when we’ve had so much fun blogging, and as you say ‘met’ some lovely people.
As for being a day early well join the queue as Glo was a month early and Glory, a non blogging friend, two days early! It will continue on afterwards as well thanks to the Royal Mail strikes.
For me it’s not really the day that’s important but the wishes and thoughts such as this which really do make me happy.
So Dear Daffy many thanks for these wonderful birthday wishes, with lots of hugs and a birthday kiss…Fabulous Flighty! xx

What a wonderful wonderful post, Daffy — a good reminder of the old days at 20six. I like your calculation of Flighty’s age, plus VAT
p.s., my mother must have some of the Queen’s birthday multiplying rights as she has two, also.

Nikki as you say wonderful, and a good reminder! Working on Daffy’s calculation I would be rather older than I am, and that’s quite old enough thanks! xx
Well done mom! xx
