October Song
October Song
Close all the doors, draw the drapes and turn the lights down low,
Build up the fire to a roaring flame, lighting the room with warm glow.
Light the candles around the room, watch the flames flicker and sway.
Create an atmosphere of tranquillity, to wash away a hard day.
Snuggle down tight on a comfy chair as mellow tunes do play.
Relax, unwind and allow your mind to drift to a place far far away.
Morning sunrise; a bright golden glow that burns across the sky.
Silhouettes appear on high as the swift swooping birds fly by.
Crumpled leaves and naked trees bronze the once green view.
Spider webs appear translucent, dotted with the morning dew.
Eyes open wide, soaking the sights as Autumn time does grow.
Savour it all. Memories stored. Soon it will be blanketed in snow!

I enjoyed the poem. We had our first dusting of snow overnight Temperature are below normal for this time of year. Tonight they will be around -6C. I am not ready.

Oh my goodness Philip! I hope it wasn’t my poem that encouraged your slight dusting! You need a good woman to keep you warm… and to do all the jobs for you to ensure you are ready! haha ;o)
Autumn inspires me! I love the colours, both land and sky. I love the dark nights so I can get bedded down ina warm room. I think it makes me lazy but why not! It just one season.

I am working on the good woman idea. She is my wealthy widow lady new found friend. I may get to visit England yet!

That is beautiful Daffy, it creates a wonderful image of autumn, but but no snow just yet. x

How evocative, Daffy! I enjoyed the cosy snuggle amongst the fireplace and candles and the bright clear morning the next day
We have a little sprinkling as I write this — either you or Flighty must’ve sent it!

Bravo, Tracey, for sharing your lovely poems. I really enjoyed the feel and flow of this one. It was especially evocative since I’m sitting here in 90+ heat… you set a very lovely word scene. I feel cooler already.
