Award, Meme, Flowers and Rainbows.

Now with this lovely award from Chrisb comes with a little task:

I have to tell you about….

Five Obsessions…….

My children’s well being.  I can be more than obsessive about that.

My dads love of rude and/or offensive t-shirts.  I have a plan to rid him of them all! *mwahhhhahhhaaaaa*

Tidiness.  Plumped cushions, straight edges, tidy and organised surfaces…. I am a nightmare.  Example? I have plates with one striped edge and when I am plating the food up, all of the edges have to be facing the same way! Mad? You bet I am.

My love of music… but more than that, my love of one particular song until I have played and re-played it to death that I could almost add it to my hate list!  Nice Weather for Ducks by Lemon Jelly is the latest.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8yx4k4tzqE

Economical driving.  My car gives a range so you roughly know how many miles you can travel with the fuel that is currently in the tank.  The thing is, if you drive really carefully and chose your gear changes carefully you can add miles to the range…. I can be very determined and I am very sorry to the guy behind me. hehe

And Five hates…

I don’t hate anything really so we’ll go with dislike a little, ok? I’ll start with HiNRG music.  I hear you saying what? and I agree, what indeed.  My kids love it and I swear it’s the same song (I use the word song in loose terms here!) over and over again, it just has a different title!

Humiliation.  I think to humiliate a fellow human is despicable.

People who don’t acknowledge a smile or a friendly good morning and bloggers who leave a comment completely unanswered.   Ignored… Now, before you all come shouting at me, I mean completely ignored.  When you don’t even get a return visit or anything.  Worse still, when your comment is ignored but the others are answered! *shakes fist*  that makes me mad!

Jeremy Clarkson. Sorry Jeremy but you annoy the life out of me.  If it makes you feel any better Jeremy, my hubby and son thing you are a car-loving genius!

Cruelty to animals.  How difficult is it?? To be kind, to treat animals with respect.  Not hard!

I think that’s it.  Now I need to choose five recipients of the lovely award and accompanying meme.  I know lots of you are very careful when choosing people for meme’s and you are so nice, telling them that they don’t have to do it, well I’m not that nice.  You have to do it! hehe

So the five lucky recipients of the lovely award and meme request demand are…

Gemmak

Crazy 57 Bus

Laurab

Cathy at Cathy’s Capers

Stephanie at Stop Bouncing

I also wanted to share a couple of my garden delights that the rabbits never ‘got at’.

Flower1

Flower3

Flower4

Nice aren’t they.  I call them, “pretty flowers”.

I thought I was finished but then I noticed out of the corner of my good eye, some bright colours!

Rainbow1

This was the first one but you may notice my son trying to back his car into the drive as I took the picture.  Having his old mum standing at the door with a camera at her eye wasn’t helping the manouver!

Rainbow4

The best til last….

Rainbow5

  1. Steve Says:

Congrats to you. What kind of flowers are they?

  2. Steve Says:

    The rainbow looks fab.

  3. daffy Says:

Hi Steve, I was hoping you could tell me! I’m not good with flowers…. I think the first ones are sweet peas… the third are some kind of lily or iris perhaps? the second picture is of the most delicate looking thing, they are like coloured ferns… really nice.
I’ve added my rainbow since your visit so call back and see them! We have just had a rainstorm and the rainbow was the brightest I have seen, sadly my photograph does not do it justice!

  4. daffy Says:

hehe Steve, you beat me! ;o) Quicker than the speed of light!

  5. chrisb Says:

    Thanks for playing along.
I think I might be guilty of not always answering questions or acknowledging all comments (hides head in shame) I always used to but have been lax lately.
Some great pictures, I never seem to capture rainbows that well.

  6. Flighty Says:

Congratulations on the well deserved award.
Good for you on doing the lists as well, and which reminds me that I haven’t done mine yet!
It looks like your lovely flowers are wild sweet peas, celosia and iris.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celosia
Wonderful rainbow photos which are never easy to get good pictures of! xx

  7. nikkipolani Says:

Fun post, Daffy! But what are you still doing there? Or maybe you’re posting while jetting over here for lunch. What will Flighty think if you’re late picking him up?!

I’m loving those rainbow shots. So often, I’m in the car driving when I see a gorgeous rainbow and the traffic is too daunting to venture reaching for the camera, aiming, shooting, etc. Very pretty flowers, too. So nice to see spring still springing in your neck o’ the woods.

  8. deyank Says:

Oh, don’t take away the t-shirts! I love zany t-shirts and I would be lost without them.

    Great rainbow shots too.

    Bill

  9. Carol Says:

    I LOVE those rainbows!

    Thanks for sharing your what-used-to-be-secrets!

  10. Dawn Says:

    Gorgeous photos.

Oh my, I think I may have done a faux pas. I have not visited often enough. I do hope I have responded to your comments. I think so lots of times, but maybe not every time.

I wrote about tidiness today. I would be more obsessed if it wasn’t so stressful.

  11. laura b. Says:

Aw! Thanks Daffy! You know I love to win awards and I LOVE to do list-y memes and things. Thank you, thank you :-)

That video was such a trip. I’d never heard that song before and I can see the fascination. Also, um, Miss Tidy? Will you come to my house and tidy up? It is a bit of traveling, but you’d enjoy getting your hands on my place. haha!

And finally…those pix are AMAZING. Wow.

  12. I am 100% with you on tidiness and music.

As for comments, sometimes if someone leaves a comment on a really really OLD post I won’t comment back. And if I am not quite sure whether they are spammers or legit. And if the comments aren’t directed to me. (Like the comments on the “Celebrating Awesome” posts.) No, I’m not feeling guilty, STOP THAT.

  13. Anvilcloud Says:

I’m in Blogger, and I pretty well refuse to re-comment in my comment section. As much as I otherwise like Blogger, it’s a silly system to have to remember to keep checking back to comments. I don’t mind emailing a response, but people ask me questions sometimes without even bothering to supply their email. It drives me crazy. See, you’ve got me going. :)

  14. daffy Says:

hehe Sorry AC, did you notice though a couple of rainbow pics in there too! haha. You always come and return my visits, which is what many do. I just feel a bit put out when I comment, as do perhaps three others, then you return to find replies to three and your own comment is left feeling all lonely and left out. ha! Maybe that just happens to me! I’ll get a complex! I have noticed that on blogger too. Do they not have comment tracking or anything….not just for replies but for tracking any ongoing conversations… seems it’s a helpful feature and a shame not to have it.
Hayden you have nothing to feel guilty about! ;o) I should feel guilty for my lack of visits to you!
Are you a bit of neat freak too?
    .
Laura, I knoew I could rely on you! The award is thoroughly deserved too…
The video is great isn’t it… I love the dancing ducks. It’s got something though that song hasn’t it?
I’m on my way over with my cushion plumper! ;o) oh and I look forward to your meme.
    .
Dawn I’m surprised you have time to be stressed! How’s the injuries today? Feeling much better I hope. I was lucky to get the pictures, The first one was how it first appeared, the rainbow I mean, then I looked a gain and it was so thick and bright! I can’t imagine what shot I could have got with a better camera and if I was a better photographer!
    .
Carol, it was amazing. We had a huge rain storm and then the sun came out, briefly and the rainbow emerged! There were two but it was just a bit too faint to catch on camera.
    .
Bill I might have a few t-shirst for you soon! lol
Thanks Bill, rainbows make me smile.
    .
NOOOOO Nikki, don’t take a pic whilst your driving. If I tried I’d end up in a ditch! haha Flighty and I have been way-laid but don’t worry…. we’re on our way! (We wish!!)
    .
Flighty I love the Celosia, I have quite a few of those in a range of colours. They are unusual, as for the sweet pea, that grwos at the front of the house in the bushes…. every year but I think this year is the best I’ve seen in a while.
I’m looking forward to seeing your lists! xx
    .
No probs Chris, I quite enjoyed it, and thank YOU for the lovely award! However much I moan about unanswered comments there will be plenty of people out there who I don’t visit often enough to I think it’s a case of Touche. ;o)

  15. Tracie Says:

Oh, oh, oh!!! I LOVE the rainbows! So, so pretty… I guess i’m a bit of a rainbow freak – maybe that’s an obsession. I’m really not a very obsessive person so it’s probably good I wasn’t tagged. As for comments, I love the way you and others take the time to answer the comments and I always check back to see if you (all) have and think it’s so fun – but I don’t do it myself. Bad, bad blogger! Then when I actually DO answer someone, I’m sure they won’t ever even know that I did since I “never” do… a blogger’s work is never done.

  16. daffy Says:

Hi Tracie, The rainbow pictures are pretty good, as I think I may have mentioned… I wish I had a better camera. Well actually I don’t because then I would be under pressure to take better photographs! haha.
I answer comments because I like too. I think some people may have picked out one sentence of a long entry for whatever reasons and defended their choices I suppose. Truth is, there are those who answer and there are those who don’t but I think my comment was, that I didn’t like being totally ignored when commenting…. something that no one has ever done who has commented here. Ah well, it all makes for an interesting read.
You a bad blogger? Never! ;o)

  17. Jenny Says:

What stunning rainbow pics!! I never seem to have my camera when I see things like that!!
I wanted to reply to your comment on my blog the other day but you have no email posted and it’s too personal to answer either in your comments or mine!

  18. driver Says:

THat’s some unbelievable rainbow! Did you doctor the colors? Yowzer.

Can I have your Dad’s Tshirts when you get rid of them?

  19. [...] Daffy memed me. Yikes! I’m supposed to list 5 obsessions and 5 hates, and then assign the meme to 5 people. I’m not good at the assignment part so anyone who wants to pick up the meme and run with it, feel welcome. Those of you who don’t have a blog, can use the comments section on this blog entry. [...]

  20. daffy Says:

Hi Jenny, I’m going to e-mail you post-haste! (Cos I am really nosey!)
I’m very pleased with my rainbow pics, so pleased I have them as my background on the pc… til a better pic comes along!
    .
Driver, I’m going to share the t-shirts between you and DeYank! hehe Oh and thanks for playing along… you get the award too you know. Don’t know how you feel about having, One Lovely Blog though! hehe.
    .
Pingback! hello… thanks for the easy link! :o )

  21. [...] 19, 2009 in General Mischief Darling Daffy has tagged me in a whirlwind meme and seeing as I’m guessing that most of my readers are going to unsubscribe if I devote one [...]

  22. Tracie Says:

Sorry, Daf, didn’t mean to focus on one thing only… an obsession, would you say? :) I did read your whole thing, I promise. I think your dad is funny and the t-shirts kind of endearing (of course I haven’t seen them all), I don’t really want to talk about tidiness lest you disown me, I certainly agree that humiliation and cruelty to anything or anybody are descpicable, (argh, can’t spell it), the flowers were lovely, i mentioned the flowers, and I just wanted to let you know I appreciate you commenting on my comments cause it is fun for me when you do it, tho I don’t take the time to do it myself; I even understood that isn’t what bugs you but just being ignored, which I can relate to. There. Did I cover everything? Love ya! bye.

  23. Loretta Says:

I love all the pictures, but the Iris and rainbow ones were so beautiful!! I also hate cruelty to animals. Your dad sounds like a sweet man.

  24. daffy Says:

Tracie, hang on, let me just check… t’shirts, check, rainbows, yep, flowers, lovely yep, tidiness… check. Yup! You covered the lot! I feel better now. :o ) Love ya right back! xx
    .
Hi Loretta, Hope you are ok. I love watching rainbows, I usually just find my camera and then the batteries and by the time I get to the door it’s gone! I was on the ball this time though! ;o)
Cruelty to anyone bugs me, but being an animal lover I think I try to be protective of the animals if I can. I mean I even moved my bird feeder so that it didn’t offer protection to the Sparrow Hawk to hunt. The thing is, was that cruel to the Sparrow Hawk? hehe Thanks for calling Loretta!

  25. A wonderful insight into the mind of Daffy

And wise philosophy – I found within :)

  26. daffy Says:

hehe yes Peter.. and plenty of cobwebs too! ;o)

  27. connie Says:

I love all of the pictures!!! the rainbows are particularly lovely! I always get quite the chuckle from the stories about your dad and your in laws!

I am very obsessive about tidiness as well. My children move things to tease me and then they take bets to see how long it will be before I notice…sigh…a mother’s work is never done!

  28. Seb Says:

    Beautiful flowers!

Come on, I know you secretly love your dad’s offensive t-shirts. I’m going to order him a t-shirt of a bear swallowing little kids. I’m sure that’ll go over well…
