That’s terrible. Once we had our house broken into and it was terrible although there was no vandalism just a robbery. Our dog’s rope was being cut 6 inches below her collar this spring, so we moved her. We wondered too what would possess people to do such a thing. I hope you got things straightened out now.

I would say to try and grow a thorny hedge, but in the meantime make sure you have some sort of boundary to keep these moronic people off your property. I am just so sorry that this heartless act of vandalism has been inflicted on something which held much meaning to you. Don’t give up, your idea for an area in your garden for your mum seems like a fine one to me. x

Tracie, rabbit flaps! I like the idea of those. ) I’m feeling a bit better now, touch wood we have had nothing since and as soon as we get a chance we are going to sort it out, To be honest the garden itself is not at it’s best at the moment. Thanks for the kind words though.

Maureen it is annoying, any kind of vandalism is just so upsetting, I often wonder how they would feel to be in the shoes of the recipient to their callous work but I guess they never think that deeply.

Hi Chippy, I think a light might be idea, as long as it doesn’t aide them in any way. Next door have one but their garden is closed off. I might get a bunch of prickly bushes!

Hi Glo, thanks, you are right, it will mend, the chair itself is quite hardy and I’m sure my hubby will be able to sort the slats out. All is not lost. Big dogs? mmmmmm I think I like that. (Although I’d spoil them and let them sleep on my bed so they probably wouldn’t help much!

Diddums, you are right though, the mindlessness is all over the place, some people just don’t care about anything. Or is just that they don’t care about things that belong to others?

Oh, poor Tracy, I’m so sorry. I’m sending you hugs and hot tea, maybe a new rose bush or two… there! I know how hard work gardening and landscaping is, it’s awful of someone to just come tear it up, it hurts. I remember when my step dad had this beautiful little rock garden with petunias all over it and two neighborhood kids came and tore the flowers out, strewing them all over the yard. It broke his heart. I guess we can just take comfort in the fact that it is utterly incomprehensible to us how someone would get enjoyment out of that. Perhaps you could put up a fence with low arches for the rabbits, sort of like cat doors?

That’s awful. I get upset when people throw their rubbish in our front garden but if they actually damaged or destroyed anything on our property, I would be furious and also sad. It’s much worse for you since they damaged your garden that you created to honour your mother’s memory. I’m so sorry.
