YOU CAN DO IT DAFFY!
*cheers* *more cheers* *waves banner*
October 22, 2008 at 3:38 pm
haha Thanks Nikki, I’d like to but I don’t think I’m disciplined enough. It would be quite an achievment though.
)
Love that banner and you do look fabulous with those pom-poms.

Economists talk about “opportunity costs.” That usually means that we can do anything we want, but not everything we want. Sooooooo, you can find the time but you’ll have to give up doing somethings that equal teh same amount of time.
October 22, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Nick I think that if I stopped cooking, cleaning and ironing, I may just have enough time. hehe
October 22, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Just write, that’s the main thing. The daily practice of putting words on paper will accomplish much, much more than a gimmick like NaNoWriMo. Writing is all about explorations into the human spirit–you can do that, regardless of the month…or the event.
Good luck to you…
October 22, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I tried it last year.
“500 words a day? pppssshhh. Patty cake!”
after a few days my characters were standing, looking at each other with nothing left to say.
FAIL.
October 22, 2008 at 4:41 pm
GO FOR IT girl!….. give up the ironing! ;o)
October 22, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I’ve thought about it, but I tend to feel defeated before I even begin. Not the best attitude.
October 22, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Definitely not! I refuse for one more year. I’m getting good at it.
October 22, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Ha! Interested maybe but… xx
October 22, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Flighty, we could centre your novel around the allotment, murder, mystery and intrigue. Who donnit? Who killed the pansies? We could have that cute looking fox as the prime suspect…
)
)
.
AC – very descisive! I am impressed at your strong will.
.
Now Laura, if I thought anyone could my money would be on you. I love your writing technique. I would definitely read it and you would feel good about it… I would spurr you on! Think about it…
.
Gemmak – Just the ironing? Throw in the toilet cleaning, washing up and window cleaning and you may have a deal!
.
Stephanie – But you gave it a go….I’d be happy to commit to it and get going, even if I didn’t complete it. Then I could say No! like Anvil Cloud and not wonder what I was missing!
.
Hi Cliff – Ah you see, I like the way you are thinking. I wonder if there is a pocket of people, like myself, who need an event to give them the push they need to do something like this. Many people who like to write don’t feel as though they can. NaNoWriMo isn’t expecting Jackie Collins, (Was that a good example? hehe)in fact they say they want just the opposite. They want you to feel less pressure. The emphasis isn’t on how good it is… I think it’s more about being able to do it, being given the deadline and allowing your charachters to build in such a short time gives you less time to be concerned, to worry, to pull your hair out… writers are perfectionists…
But. I hear what you are saying and I don’t think you are wrong but I’d like to achieve something.
*edit I’ve just been over to your place and Pat Bertram’s blog… You use the word devalue and I understand your point on this, but, on the other hand, could it not be seen as a way for the less confident to ‘join in’ and be a part of something that may well build their confidence? (Just a thought, I’m a lover not a fighter….)
October 22, 2008 at 7:28 pm
You ARE fairly busy. But since it is over a pretty short time, I think it would be doable. You’d just have to temporarily rearrange your priorities.
October 22, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Hayden, could you feed the kids for me for a month please? oh, and clean the hamster out… oh and you’d get to take my dad shopping!
)
)
I’m thinking it’s not for me now… what would I achieve really?
Oh and when I got home from work tonight my hubby was knee deep in broken bathroom tiles and I heard the words “effing leak”. I think the next month might be taken care of. Anyone know a plumber?
October 22, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I like your ‘we could centre…’!
Anyway this
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/421044
does not mean that I’m actually going to do it! xx
October 22, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Sounds like a great idea! I like great ideas. I think I’ll collect them.
Oh, and I FINALLY posted my response to the meme you tagged me with.
October 22, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Good luck if you decide to do it. I could never take part. My three novels have each taken me years to write.
I hope you keep up posted if you participate.
October 22, 2008 at 8:57 pm
The idea sounds like a blast! Just maybe not at this time of year… more time in the spring, perhaps? Or am I fooling myself and there’s never enough time and we have to just do it anyway and that’s the whole point? By the time I figure that one out, it’ll be spring anyhow. So I think maybe i’ll try it then. Perhaps we could have our own little writing thingy then?
October 22, 2008 at 8:59 pm
ah Flighty….good start though
) (It was like the Royal ‘We’.
)
)
.
Carol, I don’t have too many good ideas and even less great ones…
ooooh coming for a look see.
.
Ruth – I totally understand and utterly appreciate what you are saying. I mentioned something along those lines above. Also, I have the attention span of a goldfish…. probably not a good writing trait. Perhaps I should stay in my comfort zone. No pressure, no expectations.
October 22, 2008 at 9:00 pm
This also doesn’t mean that I’m going to do it! xx

October 22, 2008 at 9:03 pm
ooh Tracie! You scared the living daylights out of me there. Well, there are points for and points against. I remember wishing I had taken part last year. I think the leak in the bathroom won’t wait a month though… new floor, new sink, new radiator, pipes… shower. … at work all day….time…and so on….
And give that lady in the front row with the good ideas a prize! Why don’t we do just that? We should set a time and work out what we want to do and do it as a little gang of friendly bloggers! I think you are onto something! xx
October 22, 2008 at 9:05 pm
You, Mr Flighty are a cryptic little critter today!
) I think it’s to do with your age. (*wink*) Go on, admit it…. I inspired you! lol. GOOD FOR YOU! but what about Murder on Plot 124?
)
October 22, 2008 at 9:13 pm
I can see that I’m going to have to do an entry on Flighty’s plot about this, and ask for title suggestions!
I’ll probably do it over the weekend. xx
October 23, 2008 at 11:40 am
If you do it, so will I.
November is a bad time for me, as I’m usually fighting fires around then (including onrushing Christmas), but perhaps it would wake me up a bit.
One of the things I looked at was the success rate… not many people make it, not even from the original writing group. So if we regard it as something that’s fun and something to learn from, and not something that we’ll feel bad about if we fail, it will be OK.
October 23, 2008 at 12:06 pm
GO FOR IT Daff!!
October 23, 2008 at 12:58 pm
I look forward to reading your book on “Mystery, Murder and Matrimony on the Adriatic Coast”.
October 23, 2008 at 1:28 pm
well, after reading this post last night, I logged onto nanawrimo to see how I did last year and ends up that I’m now a participant this year.
oy vey.
October 23, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I volunteer to send care packages to keep your kids fed. Well, that is unless you’re concerned meals won’t arrive still edible…. Chocolate?
October 24, 2008 at 11:02 am
hey daffy, undercovercookie here (anotherblogger is my other, more private blog) – the one you found onb blogger (1 step at a time) is the one the sous chef’s family is allowed to read. Not that there is anything salacious about my wordpress blog, I just like to know I CAN write about anything.
October 25, 2008 at 9:33 pm
I won’t be doing it. No time. I have less time than last year. After last year I gave it a little though as Peter had done it, but I can’t imagine doing it now. I have signed up for NaBloPoMo though. I did that last November and this year I figure is a no brainer since I have been doing Blog 365.
October 26, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Dawn, I’ve changed my mind a million times. I am doing it, then I’m not. I’ll just see what transpires between now and the 1st November… if a plot, idea, anything bubbles to the surface, I think I might give it a go. I’m signed up! That’s a start.

UC – Hi, great to see you! Well I’m glad you let me know, I’ll add you to the sidebar. Hope you are ok!
.
Nikki – Either of my two would thank you for chocolate and Al can cook a mean burger! hehe xx
.
Good for you Stephanie! Once I get myself sorted I’ll hunt you out and add you as a writing buddy!
.
Philip, I wish I lived with you! (You know what I mean! *rolls eyes*.) I’d have inspiration all around, the open air, the winters, the pigs, the hardship, the successes… see, I’m off and running!
.
Dish Lady… I just might you know!
.
Diddums… I signed up as Daffy then I cancelled it and then I signed up for it again! (So decisive!!)
I don’t want to not make it….If I sign up and start it I’d like to complete it.
.
Flighty – You should go for it!
October 27, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Hello, thought I’d found you but then your profile disappeared. If you sign back up again, I’m there as Deione.
