Ok, well don’t expect anything too exciting!

Here we go….

1. I once allowed my brother a ‘free shot’ as I stood, arms open, in front of a dart board.  He accepted and I had a dart embedded in my shoulder.

2. I think I have mild OCD.

3. I was once a beauty queen! For a whole year and I came 22nd in the County Finals! (and no, there wasn’t only 22 contestants… Maybe 23…)

4.  I always forget to take off my glasses before I wash my face.

5.  When I was younger I used to count my steps…everywhere I went. (Early signs of OCD perhaps?

6. Brass Bands make me cry.

and I’m tagging..

Oh…the step counting thing is interesting!

Ouch @ the dart, er…why the free shot?!

I’m very impressed at the beauty queen thing….I would be happy to be 24th out of 23! heh.

  2. daffy Says:

Gemmak, hi, and thanks for the tag. Step counting… I don’t know when it stopped but I do know I did for a very long time.
As for the dart… I was very young and I wanted to show my brother I wasn’t scared, sadly neither was he.
Ahh, my year as a beauty queen, I think very few went in for it that year, and I was only 16…. :o )

  3. Tracie Says:

Sweet 16 and a Beauty Queen! Sweet. I feel so much better, I almost splashed water in my eyes and realized my specs were on. I remember once my dad waved his hand in front of my mom’s face and dared me to try to hit his hand. I was 5 and I hit hard trying to hit his hand – of course he moved it. I think I broke my mom’s nose – I remember she blacked out for a moment. But, oops, that’s not exactly a good memory. I suppose the dart in the shoulder isn’t either, actually. You’d of done well in Amazing Race, they had to go up a bunch of stairs on their knees, but when they got to the top and got asked the Mystery Question, it was “How many steps did you come up?” and they didn’t know. Ok, I’m rambling, I’m gonna go pull weeds.

  4. chrisb Says:

haha someone else tagged me for that one as well, I’ve had it for ages so am feeling guilty. Trouble is I’ve been struggling to think up new things to write about and I have a half written post. I will do it I promise but it might not be until I get back from visiting Beccy-I go on Thurs.

  5. Your “free shot” reminded me of the time i let my brother tie me up and lash my bare back with a knotted rope. I was no brave Errol Flynn as a hero in a pirate movie.

  6. laura b. Says:

Thanks for the tag and mine is up :-)

I could have taken that brass band one for myself…what is that?

  7. diddums Says:

My effort will be coming up soon… it’s joined a little queue. :-)

I tend to count too… not my steps, but other things, like shaking out a rag!

  8. [...] 20, 2008 by Stephanie of Stopbouncing Daffy, in all her adorable over-seasedness has tagged me (again!). This time, it’s quirks! [...]

  9. mjgolch Says:

and I thought that I was bad tossing a knife into the ground that you had to stand on that spot. the next throw the other guy took I got it stuck in my foot, and I had a shoe on.!

  10. nikkipolani Says:

Wait, you mean there are more quirky things about you than you’ve previously published in other tags? :-) I think #3 is quite impressive!

  11. daffy Says:

Mike, I’m sure that we used to play a game like that. Was it called ‘Kipper’. (My memory is not so good.) Thank goodness you did have a shoe on or you could have lost a toe!
    .
Stephanie, hehe, your Ping beat you over here. :o ) I’m coming over for a look-see. :o )
    .

Diddums, yes, I counted other things too but didn’t want to appear over-quirky! :o ) Do it anytime…I look forward to seeing it.
    .

Laura, I love yours! specially No.4. It made me laugh but I kind of know how you feel.
    .
Philip, -*shakes head* how daft were we when we were younger? I think I kind of hoped my brother wouldn’t take me up on my offer but I wasn’t that lucky! You story had me wincing! *ouch*
    .
Chrisb – hey, in your own time missus, no worries. have a great break away. We ususally go away October week but our funds didn’t allow us this year. I’m going to have to make do with a couple off half-day holidays. xx
    .
Tracie you have made me laugh so much this morning, it’s not even 7am! I love it when people have a good ramble… but your poor mums nose! hehe, oh and washing your face with your specs still on is quite painful! Did you pull many weeds? :o )

  12. daffy Says:

Nikki – I know! I’m a glutton for punishment! No 3 huh? I was in the local paper with my sash on too. Ooooh and I got to ride around the village on a float. (I think it was a milk float and I think my ‘throne’ was a milk bottle crate covered with a purple velvet tablecloth! )
    :o )

  13. Brass bands? Really??

  14. Flighty Says:

All very interesting! Why do think that you have mild OCD? This link is for anyone not knowing what it means

I’ve certainly done 4., and got in the bath and shower with them on, and swimming! xx

  16. Dog-geek Says:

Too funny! (Except for the dart – ouch!) My freshman year in high school I was in the marching band. For a long time after that, I would catch myself counting my steps everywhere. Thank goodness I eventually stopped. Or else I have gotten so used to it I no longer notice…

  17. Tara Says:

Hey, thank you for visiting my blog! Come back often, ya hear? :)

Have you ever forgotten that your glasses were on and started looking all over the place for them? Been there, done that. My OCD kicks in when I’m really tired.

  18. thedailydish Says:

John counts all his steps TOO!!

  19. Glo Says:

Hmmm, very interesting! I think I’ve made sense of whole thing, Bullseye! (that’s the dart). The counting steps comes from your previous life when you were a drum majorette leading the brass band (bringing tears from your subconscious remembering your sore feet) and why you chose in this life to be a beauty queen, so you could still be in a parade, but in a seated position. …oh, and the reason you don’t take your glasses off when you wash your face is because you don’t want to get soap in your eyes. ;) ….or not.

  20. daffy Says:

Glo I’m busted! I think you got me on all counts there! :o ) Or perhaps the ‘crying at brass’ bands was memories of being bonked on the head with a trombone whilst I was happily sat in the front row pinging my triangle? The beauty Queen win was purely down to poor attendance figures;o)
The glasses! *daffy thinks hard* The glasses thing is to aid a speedy exit from the bathroom before the tribe starts banging on the door! (Why oh why do we only have one bathroom!!) x
    .
Dish Lady I feel honoured to be quirky in excellent company! I had a nother little quirk when I was younger which was to remember forever a certain moment. I used to repeat in my mind the vision of doing something. I still have flashbacks to me running home late one night in the rain with only one (wet) shoe on and a red plastic see-through coat on after a day playing in the beck. (rat infested streams that children thought were fun!) In my mind they were probably what I thought would be my last moments alive after my mum got a hold of me! :o )
    .

Hi Tara, thanks ever so much for the return visit. My (supposed) OCD is getting worse as I get older. I say mild, as I have read about the extremes and thankfully I am not there! Yes! I’ve searched high and low for something that was sat on my nose before! I sometimes lay down in bed with them on, until they dig into my nose then I take them off! :o ) I will definitely be back to see you!
    .
Dog-Geek, haha, well, thanks for taking the 389 steps over here to see me. :o )
The dart was stupid and sadly, (for me) only one of many similar incidents I remember as a child. My brother was a bit like a red rag to bull… :o )
    .
Hi Flighty – Well, perhaps it’s just a case of extreme organisation but it’s certainly time consuming and the children, after the initial hilarity, now find it annoying as they wait patiently for me to straighten up the furniture before I give them lift! :o )
I think glasses are easy to feel like a permanent ficture so I think we can be excused for our ‘forgetfulness!’ :o )
    .
Hayden – Every Time – Scratchy throat, gulping mildly then the tears squeeze out! No ideas at all. *shakes head* :o )

  21. Dawn Says:

I am so glad you didn’t tag me. My son has trained a few people to move out of his way in phys ed by creating a welt on those who don’t move when he is going to wing the lacrosse ball.

A beauty queen wow. I was a goodess, but that was more in my own mind than anything;-).

  22. divastar Says:

Cripes I only just saw this! I will do this the next time I blog – promise missus! :o ) xxxxxxxxx
