National Poetry Day
As I haven’t visited many friends of late due to my time being eaten away by work, kids, husbands, dads and events, I won’t be expecting you to comment here. Now I know that sounds as though I am fishing for sympathy and I may be… but I am also aware that this blogging lark is a two-way street.
)
Ok, so, with that all said, National Poetry Day is a little bit of a tradition for myself and my long time blogging pal, Flighty.
My effort is poor as we were a little put off by the theme this year. As Flighty mentioned yesterday, it’s not exactly inspiring. The theme is WORK. Regardless though, here is my effort.
Making it Work.
In day to day life, with its commitments overflowing,
Each and every day begins with certain unknowing.
High standards expected, equalled and surpassed,
Knowledge and instruction are equally amassed.
Achievement! To accomplish and emerge victorious,
Although achieving victory can be utterly laborious!
As the old saying goes, “It’s all in a days work.”
Not so surprising that it can send you a little berserk!!
by TC
Please call over to Flighty as he has links to friends who are taking part.
It’s not too late to take part!

Work sure can send you a little berserk… especially when you put a lot of work into something, and someone else messes it up. What’s that phrase… “too many cooks”?

Nice entry! You’ve actually got two, well deserved, mentions, as you’ll see! xx

Loved the poem – it made me smile in a kind of knowing and agreeing sort of way; the smile turning into a laugh when I got to berserk!!
Take care there; have a good afternoon – and try not to work too hard
(hugs)

I wish I could knock something like that out ever…let alone if I was ‘uninspired”!

Awesome
I am especially fond of the rhyme victorious and laborious. Genius, Daffy.

Oops, I went scurrying off to read more poems, and forgot to tell you that I liked yours. I do, though – like yours, that is. (And I promise I don’t keep “comments scores”). Except – Tag! You’re It! (just kidding)

Tracie, you are a gem! Flighty does great entries but National Poetry day is always an especially great one!
) I’m going to improve though!
Thank you for not scoring me… I’d get ‘NIL points’

Laura, thank you! I must admit I impressed myself more with Work and berserk!! ;o) xx

Gemmak, you don’t have to write poetry, you write blog entries that make me laugh so hard I almost pee!
.
WUS- Berserk is my favourite part of the entire piece! I’m very proud of myself. hehe
Where is your effort my dear?
.
Thanks Flighty… what do I have to do to get a third? ;o)
Brilliant stuff by the way! Your entry is superb! xx
.
Hi diddums… yup! *nods head* they spoil the broth!

You should write a poem about teenage boys! How the job thing going?

Enjoyed your poem, Daffy ~ filled with great vocabulary ~ no wonder you’re kept busy with “kids, husbands, dads..” Usually one husband is more than enough ;
Thanks for leaving such a lovely comment re my poem

Hi Daffy – what a great poem. There’s some particularly tricky rhymes there!
I didn’t know about NPD until I met Flighty. You both may have thought this year’s theme was uninspiring, but I think it hasn’t affected the quality of what I’ve seen
Thanks for your comments over at my place – I very nearly didn’t give you the back story, but I’m glad I did, otherwise I wouldn’t have unearthed all the links.

I’m glad you enjoyed my work “bloggerel” Daffy, and the photo, and it’s nice to meet more of Flighty’s friends.
You worked very much harder on the rhyming scheme than I did – for which praise is due, I think!

VP hi there! Nice to see you! Your work yesterday was great, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and your great links!
I think we have been involving our selves in NPD for three or four years now and it is always great fun. We find poets amongst our unlikliest blogging buddies! haha
.
Glo, I did wonder if anyone would notice that little error! Of course I should have known you would have! mmm just a typo, just the one husband, thank the good lord!!
Enjoyed your poem so much. Taking part is always good fun!
.
Hayden I think I might give it a go! My job… the job… I need a change! A poet? Maybe not! hehe
.
Carol, some people can do deep, meaningful and thoughtful poems…. then there is me who can rhyme! haha
xx

I enjoyed the humor in the last couple.
October 11, 2008 at 4:38 am
Duh, I meant last couplet. I think I’m going to have to go to bed.

Being hopeless at poetry myself, I admire those who are creative and that is a great poem.
October 12, 2008 at 2:43 am
I agree — “work” isn’t much of an inspiring theme, but you’ve made the best of it!
October 12, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Hi Daffy! Although I’m a retired woman, I exactly know what you mean; I also was an young lady all in all. But, sometimes my time is eaten away by kids, and events. lol Last week my husband and I were in São Paulo city and I missed my dog and my computer. lol
I loved your entry. Hugs.

Work? The most work I have done recently has been to try to figure out what the furball wants.
October 13, 2008 at 6:41 pm
What does that furball want now Nick! I’m sure he tests your patience!

) Many thanks and have a snooze for me please!

One of my memories from when I first discovered your blog Daffy, was your talent for poetry. You really are a very talented lady. I love the poem. x
October 17, 2008 at 8:45 pm
How sweet of you Louise. I think there are some very talented bloggers out there but I just like to rhyme.
