Little Things.
It’s one week tomorrow before I will be able to dip my toe into the clear crisp Adriatic Ocean and I can’t wait.
Before I get too excited about the break I am able to get excited about meeting these two on Saturday for coffee.
Someones birthday is looming…. this is just a gentle reminder.
)
The postal strike is driving me nuts as I can’t get to ‘converse’ with my dear friend. Snail mail is my treat! I love to get mail. I grab a coffee and curl up on the sofa and spend a few minutes with a friend. Priceless!
I’m still waiting for my car… is it worrying that I am missing her. I actually look out of the bedroom window every morning and my stomach lurches when I see that ‘orrible black thing outside my door instead of my pretty silver, fast one. Maybe tomorrow.
My dad rang me today.
Dad – Hello? Hello?
Me – Hey Dad, what’s wrong?
Dad – My walkman is broken. I dropped it down the stairs when I was bringing the bedding down. Samshed to smithereens. I need it for bed time… I listen to classic fm on a night to get me to sleep. Now I’ll have to use the big wireless and get out of bed to switch it on and off…. that won’t help me sleep!
Me- Do you want me to get you a new one?
Dad – No pet, you haven’t got time to run after me… they have them in stock at Argos… I have the reference number and I have a second choice incase the first is out of stock…..
Bless him… I guess I know what I’m doing after work tomorrow.

Little, but all important, things!
Please say hello from me on Saturday. Thanks xx

Oh I will! It’s very exciting.
)
I seem to be a little short of things to say at the moment but I’m sure after our break I will be revitalised and full of useless info once again.
24th October rings a bell with me…. I wonder why!

I so loved your post, all the more special because of your dear Dad’s diplomacy of a ‘new walkman’ –
As for the car – sad and yet it will soon return to its loving owner – although just for the record I have a ‘black’ car…. and boy is it fast…..
Hope your weekend retains an extra sparkle and thank’s for stopping by and leaving such a delightful comment.

ps – hope you enjoy your “dip into the Adriatic” – sure it will be comforting
October 12, 2007 at 10:00 am
oooh enjoy coffee. And hurrah not long for holiday. x
October 12, 2007 at 2:02 pm
smiles
– pass on my “hellos” to the two you’re meeting
(it is good to see them getting to be together)
that is going to be a pretty amazing holiday – please dip your toe in the ocean a couple of times for me
I’m not surprised you miss your car… they become like part of the family -with their needs, grumbles and then… when you needing them… being there – hopefully she won’t be away too much longer.
As to the walkman
I like the way your dad puts it. The things we do to help us sleep, and the things we’re used to. I have a little wireless (I love calling them wirelesses) that I tend to use and does the job; usually mornings with radio 2 to wake me up rather than put me to sleep – although, I’ve been known to drop off in the bath whilst listening… hmm… I’m rabbitting on a bit here … probably one of the reasons I don’t write as much snail mail as I used to – it costs so much to send a telephone directory’s worth of ramblings
have a great day
hugs
X

Philosophy – Just got back from replacing the smithereened walkman!
) Happy dad once again.
)
I think it may have been scientifically proven that silver cars are faster than black cars… ;o)
Should be a good weekend as I’m meeting a couple of friends, Katie is flying in from the USA sometime tonight. Hoping your weekend is sparkly too!
Can’t wait to dip a toe or two!
.
Less than one week now Fab!! xxx (Hope you and your lovely bump are well!)
.
Ah! there’s my little rambler! ;o)
Wireless… such a lovely word, but then again I still say frock, to the horror of my children so maybe I’m a little old fashioned. Still no car yet! Monday is looking pronising. I just know that without that great dirty bump on her wing she will feel like a new car!
My dad is an absolute creature of habit, he has to everything as it should be. Two nights of having to get up and switch the wireless off have really bugged him. He seemed happy with the new one, so happy he almost forgot the batteries. (The name ‘wireless’ should have given him a clue! lol)
Have a good weekend!

So pleased your Dad can now enjoy his night time sleep with the classics – once again….
Questionable the scientific research – given the number of silver cars – I have overtaken
October 12, 2007 at 7:27 pm
P- haha… I think the silver cars slow down to let the black cars look good… nothing worse than a inferior black car
)
October 12, 2007 at 7:44 pm
Unless one is in a hearse
October 12, 2007 at 7:52 pm
haha…yes, but have you noticed that there are not many silver hearses’ about. (I think I mentiond the scientific thing….silver cars don’t ‘do’ slow.)
)
Have you tried go-faster stripes on that black machine of yours… in silver
October 12, 2007 at 8:33 pm
I think the occupants may well complain – may well hear a knocking…..
October 13, 2007 at 9:10 am
My dad has a much more direct approach (even though he’s a Geordie too) – “hello Son, I’m going to come over and stay at your place from the 11th November until just after your birthday, is that alright?”
Er, ok. [goes quiet imagining the full horror of at least seven days with my father crashing at my place. Seven hours; lovely, seven days.....nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo]
October 13, 2007 at 9:18 am
(wireless on this morning and chuckling to Mr Ross)
I think I would have to side with you daffy on the speedy silver cars front; here – watching the road – I see lots of red cars, lots of white cars, plenty of blue, green and black… but the silver cars…? I see very few – which can only mean they travel faster than my eyes can see – they are that silent whoosh we hear but apparently is made by nothing; really it’s like when you hear a the roar of a jetplane and look and there is none to be seen… the sound being much slower than the vehicle itself
enjoy your day

Or perhaps all the silver cars are in garages being repaired…………
October 15, 2007 at 9:49 pm
How fun to meet bloggers in person! Hope you have a fantastic vacation, dear, and that your postal strike will end soon.
October 16, 2007 at 5:59 am
Nikkipolani – hello lady! I’m thinking of you and lovely Nikki at this difficult time. Please give extra hugs!
) Meeting Katie and Addi was lovely, I just haven’t found the time to tell you all. I will try though. Did I mention it’s only three days to go! xx
)
)
.
Philosophy – Today! There will be one less silver car in the garage today!
*is getting very excited*
.
Mas – Hey you. I think you might be right! Hope you are ok and your own travel plans are coming together nicely. Remember, triple check and check again! Don’t wish them here too quickly though as you will be wishing mine over! lol xx
.
Mr B – We geordies don’t like to beat about the bush! I’m sure that if you dig into your reserve tank you will survive the seven days and will have a memory bank to last a long while. That is what it’s all about!
Ooooh a birthday looming!
October 16, 2007 at 8:38 pm
smiles; the plans are getting there. Just sorting out a holiday for the pets now for while I’m away. My trip will come soon enough; and yours is almost here now! Can’t believe it. Can you dip a toe in the ocean for me please ? Where I’m going will be a bit sparce on the ocean and sand front, and it’s been a little while since I felt sand underfoot and water around my ankles.
take care; and have the greatest time (you should be all done with the triple checking… oh, one more time… just to be sure 8*) )
